Development of the multi-float wave energy converter M4: experiments, linear modelling, mean forces and moorings

The multi-float, multi-mode, multi-PTO wave energy converter has capacity for some offshore sites similar to wind turbines, suitable for grid-scale electricity generation. This has been developed through linear diffraction-radiation modelling with wave basin validation. Response and power generation is remarkably linear while mean forces become very nonlinear in large waves. This will be described and mooring designs will be suggested.
