Numerical and Experimental Study on Sloshing in a Tank with Complicated Inner Structures

Date: 25.11.2020; UTC Time: 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM

An unstructured mesh Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver has been developed for numerical simulation of violent sloshing flows inside a tank with complicated inner structures. The numerical solver employs the unstructured multi-dimensional tangent hyperbolic interface capturing method (UMTHINC) for free-surface capturing combined with various turbulence models. To validate the numerical method, a scaled model test on a chambered rectangular tank with complicated inner baffle structures have been carried. LBG sensors were used to measure the pressure on the baffle structures.
