I come from a signal processing background. During my Ph.D. and post-doc., I closely worked with a deep water (5000 m depth) acoustic tomography group headed by Peter Worcester at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In my research, I implemented statistical signal processing methods for spatial beamforming, and obtain travel time estimates of long range acoustic signals (50-500 km). I am also an expert on wave propagation through random media, that uses mode theory. On my return to India, I plan to do similar work here. I will be initially working with NIOT in Chennai to do a shallow water acoustics experiment in Bay of Bengal. Collaborators welcome :).
